Support Schools Educating Minorities
Expanding Our Mission Beyond HBCUs
While Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are central to our mission, Elara recognizes that students of color thrive in a range of educational settings. Our support extends to institutions that serve large populations of underrepresented and historically marginalized students — from public high schools to community colleges and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs).
These schools are often underfunded yet serve as vital pipelines to leadership, innovation, and equity in higher education and the workforce.
How We Support These Schools:
Workshops and speaker series tailored to career readiness, financial literacy, and civic engagement
Mentorship pairings between Elara Fellows and students in high-need districts
Resource support and scholarships for standout students attending non-HBCU MSIs
Collaborations with educators to expose students to leadership pathways in tech, policy, and the arts
"Some of the brightest Black and brown minds are sitting in classrooms that go unseen. Elara is committed to seeing them, serving them, and investing in their futures."
Together, we can build a more equitable system of opportunity — one that sees every student, regardless of institution, as worthy of investment.
